About Me

Hello! My name is Marina Yanchuk. I am Ukrainian. On February 24, 2022, at night, when we were sleeping, a terrible war broke out in my country. This night divided life into "before" and "after". Before the war, I had a home, work, travel, friends, stability, and plans for the future. I was a successful and famous photographer in the city Kharkiv. My work was my passion, it fulfilled and inspired me.

 

On that terrible day, I had to leave everything, take my two children and run from the war. We had a difficult path - for some time we lived in a damp basement and heard bomb explosions, then on the platform of the train station we fought for a place on an evacuation train, we lived in a refugee camp in Poland, we were looking for housing and help in a foreign country. And I am grateful to God for this path, for the people who came across on our path. If not for all of them, we would not be here now.

 

Now my children and I are safe. We live in a wonderful family that is very supportive and helps us in everything; in a beautiful country - Great Britain, which we give the opportunity to work and study; in a great location - Mayfield, East Sussex. I have a home again, food, stability, friends, plans for the future and a great desire to work as a photographer.

 

With the outbreak of the war, I became even more convinced of the value of my profession. Many of my Ukrainian clients wrote me letters of gratitude for the fact that the photos preserved the memory of their happy family life. Photography for me is not just a picture - it is part of the family history that I have the privilege to create with them.
